During the first quarter of 2026, Aviata at Colonial Lakes ranked as the No. 3 largest nursing home in Orange County, sharing this position with three other facilities, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) reported. It held this spot alongside Apopka Health and Rehabilitation Center, Rehabilitation Center of Winter Park, and Lotus Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Records indicate the nursing home offered a total of 180 beds, 53 more than the county average during the same period. Its average daily resident count reached 160.7.
The CMS rated Aviata at Colonial Lakes 1 out of 5 overall, below the 3.3 average for Florida nursing homes.
For the quarter, Orlando Health and Rehabilitation Center led as the largest nursing facility in Orange County with 391 available beds. Health Central Park was second, hosting 218 beds.
Aviata at Colonial Lakes accrued $23,136 from three fines and faced three penalties as of the first quarter of 2026.
Altogether, Orange County, Florida had 24 for-profit nursing facilities.
Estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau show the U.S. population of older adults is rising, even as the number of children drops. From 2020 to 2024, the population aged 65 and up increased by 13%, while those under 18 declined by 1.7%. Over the last century, the nation’s older adult population grew from 4.9 million in 1920 to over 61 million by 2024.
A 2021 review estimates that nearly half of Americans ages 65 and older—about 28 million people—will need long-term services and support, with more than a third of that group possibly entering nursing facilities.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance, an insurance education organization. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
