Health Central Park emerged as the second largest nursing home in Orange County during the first quarter of 2026, data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) show.

The facility offered 218 available beds at that time, which was 91 higher than the county’s average for the period. Health Central Park assisted an average of 204.4 residents per day over those months.

The nursing home received a 2-out-of-5 overall rating from CMS, trailing the Florida average for nursing homes, which was 3.3.

For the same quarter, Orlando Health and Rehabilitation Center had the most beds available locally at 391, while Apopka Health and Rehabilitation Center|Rehabilitation Center of Winter Park|Aviata at Colonial Lakes|Lotus Nursing and Rehabilitation Center ranked third with 180 beds.

As of the end of the first quarter of 2026, Health Central Park accrued a single fine totaling $57,145 and incurred two citations.

There were 11 non-profit nursing homes operating in Orange County, Florida, during the period.

U.S. Census Bureau estimates show the population of older adults continues to rise while numbers of younger individuals decrease. From 2020 to 2024, the U.S. population ages 65 and older grew by 13%, while those under 18 declined by 1.7%. The United States has seen significant growth in its older adult population throughout the past century, expanding from 4.9 million individuals in 1920 to over 61 million by 2024.

A study from 2021 indicates about half of those aged 65 and older, roughly 28 million people, might need long-term services or support. Furthermore, projections call for over one third to ultimately require care in a nursing home.

“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
