According to his tweet, the visit comprised “a series of roundtables and forums with legal experts and community leaders.” The discussions covered “ongoing attacks on voting rights at the federal and state levels, the rule of law under this political climate,” among other pertinent issues.
Later the same day, Frost highlighted the case of Felipe Zapata Velasquez, an international student from the University of Florida on an F-1 visa, claiming that Velasquez had become “the Trump Admin’s latest kidnapping victim.” The tweet noted that despite being in the process of renewing his visa, Velasquez was detained at the Krome Detention Center, leaving his family without updates on his status.
Demonstrating his commitment to the issue, Frost declared that, as a member of the Oversight and Reform Committee, he would utilize his position to seek resolution and answers. As stated in another tweet, “I’m going to be doing everything in my power to fight this and get answers.”
