Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer is set to celebrate the opening of the Orlando Wetlands Visitor Center on April 2, 2025, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Dyer will be joined by District 1 City Commissioner Jim Gray, District 3 City Commissioner Robert F. Stuart, and volunteers from the Friends of the Orlando Wetlands. Attendees will have the opportunity to explore the center’s exhibits and participate in a guided tour of the wetlands.

The 5,000 square foot facility is designed with sustainability in mind and is LEED-certified. It includes features like energy-efficient lighting, solar power systems, and native landscaping to attract local wildlife. Inside, visitors can explore interactive exhibits focused on wetland habitats, water management, and conservation efforts. The center also offers classrooms for educational purposes and is a starting point for guided tours led by the Friends of the Orlando Wetlands.

Established in 1987, the Orlando Wetlands began as an advanced water reclamation facility. Over the years, it has grown significantly, with a 300% increase in visitors in the past decade. The new Visitor Center showcases the city’s efforts to preserve this ecosystem and provides educational resources for the community.

The event is scheduled for April 2, 2025, at 10:15 a.m. at the Orlando Wetlands Visitor Center, located at 25155 Wheeler Road, Christmas, FL 32709.
