Rehabilitation Center of Winter Park was one of four nursing homes tied for third largest in Orange County in the first quarter of 2026, data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) shows. It shared this position with Apopka Health and Rehabilitation Center, Aviata at Colonial Lakes, and Lotus Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
The facility had 180 available beds, which was 53 more than the Orange County average during the same period. It cared for an average of 170.4 residents over the quarter.
CMS gave the Rehabilitation Center of Winter Park an overall rating of 2 out of 5, which was below the statewide average of 3.3 for Florida nursing homes.
Orlando Health and Rehabilitation Center led as the largest facility in the county with 391 beds, while Health Central Park followed with 218 beds.
The Rehabilitation Center of Winter Park reported no fines or penalties during the first quarter of 2026.
There were a total of 24 for-profit nursing homes in Orange County, Florida, during the quarter.
U.S. Census Bureau estimates indicate that the country’s older adult population is rising as younger cohorts decline. Between 2020 and 2024, the population of Americans 65 and older increased by 13%, while the population under 18 dropped by 1.7%. The older adult population has seen significant growth over the past 100 years, from 4.9 million in 1920 to more than 61 million in 2024.
A study published in 2021 found that about half of adults in this age category—a group totaling roughly 28 million—could need long-term services and supports. The report also estimates that more than one-third may require nursing home care during their lives.
“Living a long life is something that many of us want and could get,” said Jesse Slome, executive director of the American Association for Long-Term Care Insurance. “But when we live a long life, the chances of us needing long-term care increase exponentially. But when you need that type of care, there are limited options.”
