Orlando Economic Partnership issued the following announcement on November 20.

The Partnership convened some of our region’s top public, private and elected leaders including Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings for the annual Washington D.C. Advocacy Fly-in to engage with our federal representatives and shape the discussions around Orlando’s most pressing issues.

Sponsored by BakerHostetler and hosted by Honorary Co-chairs U.S. Congresswoman Stephanie Murphy (D-FL-7) and U.S. Congressman Mike Waltz (R-FL-8), the Fly-in connected participants with 17 members of Congress and staff including the Central Florida delegation and leaders from the Transportation & Infrastructure Committee.

Our advocacy efforts focused on investment in transportation and semiconductors and the ample opportunities created through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) and potentially the Build Back Better bill and National Defense Authorization Act. Throughout the visit, U.S. Department of Commerce and U.S. Department of Transportation leaders held constructive conversations with the group on ways to start a dialogue on planning for the region’s future infrastructure and economy. Special guest speakers from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the ENO Institute spoke to group as well and included a wealth of information on what the implementation of the recently passed IIJA bill will look like.

With our region’s growth comes a great responsibility to make critical decisions today that ensure we can finance and provide the right infrastructure for tomorrow.  Thank you to each of our investors who participated and all who are committed to ensuring our region is top of mind for our Congressional leaders when it comes to investment in transportation and semiconductors.
