Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 3 City Commissioner Robert F. Stuart Kick Off Mobility Week to Highlight Safe, Multimodal Transportation Options

Bike with the Mayor event will feature new Quick-Build pilot path along Corrine Drive

WHAT:

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 3 City Commissioner Robert F. Stuart will join residents and community partners to lead bicyclists on a four-mile ride for the start of Mobility Week, a partnership with the Florida Department of Transportation, celebrated October 27 – November 4, 2023. As part of the Bike with the Mayor event, bicyclists will ride through historic Colonialtown North and the Audubon Park Garden District, including along the new Corrine Drive Quick-Build pilot path to promote safe, multimodal transportation choices. Participants are encouraged to bring their own bicycles and wear helmets for safety.

During the event, bicyclists will experience the semi-permanent pilot path and its new enhancements, including DezignLine BikeRail and RailRibbon separators. These separators will remain in place for at least six months to gain traffic safety data and community feedback.

This pilot is part of the City of Orlando Transportation Department’s new Quick-Build infrastructure program, which aims to implement high-impact safety projects quickly and more cost-effectively than traditional capital improvement projects. Quick-Build projects, such as crosswalks, bike lanes and parklets, are all part of Orlando’s Vision Zero efforts to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries within the city by 2040.

To register for the event, participants can visit the City of Orlando’s page here.
