Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 3 City Commissioner Robert F. Stuart Celebrate College Park Neighborhood with Dedication of Historical Markers

ORLANDO, FL– On October 24, 2023, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 3 City Commissioner Robert F. Stuart joined members of the College Park Historical Society of Orlando and Orange Preservation Trust to celebrate the dedication of two new historical markers in the College Park neighborhood. As part of an official recognition as Florida Heritage sites, both the Lake Adair-Lake Concord Historic District and the Lake Ivanhoe Historic District markers were unveiled.

“We are proud to have a permanent place where residents and visitors can learn about the contributions of our community before us and for many future generations to enjoy,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. “The installation of these markers supports our efforts to preserve and celebrate the history of our city and its neighborhoods.”

The historical markers highlight the communities’ rich history, including how the 1920s Florida Land Boom impacted its growth with the influx of new residents flocking to the Sunshine State spurring exponential planned development and economic prosperity in the Central Florida area.

“College Park has nearly 100 years of history by being one of Orlando's first subdivision communities,” said District 3 City Commissioner Robert F. Stuart. “A great way to celebrate is by placing historical markers to remind our community of College Park's rich history. Today we recognized two of the three historic districts, and I am honored to be part of it.”
