The City of Orlando Housing and Community Development Department is eagerly awaiting an announcement from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development regarding the Program Year 2024-2025 (PY2024) funding allocations. The federal funding allocations for Program Year 2023 were substantial, and the City of Orlando anticipates receiving similar funding allocations for PY2024.

According to the Housing and Community Development Department, the federal funding allocations for Program Year 2023 were $2,424,636 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG), $206,553 in Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG), $1,385,671 in HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME), and $5,544,737 in Housing Opportunities for Persons with AIDS Program (HOPWA). These funds were used to provide affordable housing, community and economic development activities, and assistance for low- and moderate-income individuals and special populations within the City of Orlando.

In preparation for the upcoming funding availability, the City of Orlando is now soliciting proposals from non-profit organizations that serve the community. The city is particularly interested in proposals that prioritize affordable housing and related services. Non-profit agencies are invited to apply for PY2024 grant funding, and the CDBG pre-application and ESG application are available on ZoomGrants.

To provide further guidance and information about the funding process, a public hearing and application workshop will be held at Orlando City Hall on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. The workshop will take place in the Fairview Room on the 9th Floor, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Interested organizations are encouraged to attend this workshop.

The deadline for the CDBG pre-application is Friday, March 8, 2024, and the final applications for both CDBG and ESG funding are due by 5 p.m. EST on Friday, March 29, 2024. Preliminary funding recommendations will be determined in June 2024, with final funding awards and contracting taking place from July to October 2024.

For more detailed information, including program instructions and eligible activity guidance, interested parties can visit ZoomGrants. Additionally, if special accommodations are needed or if further assistance is required, individuals can contact the City of Orlando Housing and Community Development Department at 407.246.4492.

This funding opportunity presents a chance for non-profit organizations to make a significant impact on the community by addressing the housing and economic development needs of the City of Orlando. By working together, the City and these organizations can create a positive change and improve the quality of life for residents in need.

In conclusion, the City of Orlando is excited to announce the availability of funding for Program Year 2024-2025. With the anticipated funding allocations from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, non-profit organizations are encouraged to apply and contribute to the City's goals and objectives outlined in the Consolidated Plan. This opportunity will not only benefit the community but also provide assistance to low- and moderate-income individuals and special populations within the City of Orlando.
