Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer has appointed Michelle McCrimmon as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO) for the City of Orlando. This appointment comes after the departure of Chris McCullion, who will now serve as the Chief Financial Officer for the Orlando Utilities Commission.

Mayor Dyer expressed confidence in McCrimmon, stating, "With almost 30 years of experience, including 13 years with the City and more than 16 years in public accounting, Michelle is well qualified for the CFO role and will provide continuity of executive financial expertise for the city. I look forward to working with Michelle in her new role."

McCrimmon has been with the city since 2010 and has held various positions, including Controller and Deputy Chief Financial Officer. In her most recent role, she was responsible for overseeing several divisions, including Budget, Accounting, Treasury, Procurement, Risk Management, Real Estate, Fleet and Facilities, as well as the city's Workday team.

Regarding the challenges that lie ahead, McCrimmon emphasized the need for prudent spending and seeking new funding sources. She stated, "There are significant demands for city resources to respond to the tremendous growth that Orlando is experiencing as well as the need to maintain and improve our existing infrastructure. It's an honor and a privilege to be offered the position of Chief Financial Officer. I look forward to my new role and continuing to work with my city team to deliver exceptional public service in a knowledgeable, responsible, and fiscally responsible manner."

McCrimmon is a Florida Certified Public Accountant and brings a diverse background in public accounting. Prior to joining the city, she worked for 13 years with Ernst & Young LLP, including five years as an Audit Senior Manager. She is also actively involved in finance and audit committees for LYNX and the Central Florida Expressway and is a member of the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) and the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA).

The appointment of Michelle McCrimmon as the Chief Financial Officer for the City of Orlando is subject to approval by the City Council on Monday, February 19, 2024. If approved, her appointment will go into effect on March 3, 2024.
