Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Washington, D.C., Mayor Muriel Bowser have entered into a friendly wager ahead of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) Championship match. The Orlando Pride will face off against the Washington Spirit in Kansas City on Saturday night, with the Pride aiming for their first championship.

The terms of the wager involve lighting up a major landmark in the losing city with the winning team's colors. If the Washington Spirit win, Orlando's Lake Eola Park fountain will shine yellow. Conversely, if the Orlando Pride claim victory, Washington, D.C.'s Frederick Douglass Memorial Bridge will be illuminated in purple.

“The Pride have had a record-breaking season and made history time and time again,” stated Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. “I have full confidence that they will make even more history on Saturday night. I am happy to make this friendly wager with Mayor Bowser and look forward to seeing Orlando’s championship victory recognized in our nation’s capital.”

The Orlando Pride has been part of the city's sports community since 2015 and has achieved significant milestones in women's soccer. Known for their dedication and teamwork, they continue to inspire fans both locally and beyond.
