District 4 City Commissioner Patty Sheehan is set to host the 23rd annual holiday giveaway event on Friday, December 20, 2024. The event will distribute nearly 130 kick scooters to selected children aged five to 15 from the Reeves Terrace neighborhood. This initiative is part of the Wheels for Kids program, which was launched by Commissioner Sheehan in 2002 when students in Reeves Terrace lost access to school bus transportation.

The program has successfully provided over 2,000 bicycles and scooters with support from community partners. This year's donations came from Baker Barrios Architects, Brasfield & Gorrie, GAI Consultants Inc., Ustler Group of Companies, and Workscapes Inc.

The event will take place at the basketball courts of the former Reeves Terrace Neighborhood Center at 150 Mc Jordan Avenue near East Church Street. Participants include Orlando firefighters, police officers, community partners, and Santa Claus.

Commissioner Sheehan expressed gratitude for the continued support that makes this annual tradition possible: "To date, the program has provided more than 2,000 bicycles and scooters through the help of generous community partners."
