The City of Orlando has commenced a year-long celebration to mark its 150th anniversary. The festivities began on February 4, 2025, with an event at City Commons Plaza where Mayor Buddy Dyer, city officials, and community partners unveiled a commemorative banner.

Mayor Dyer spoke about the planned events for the year, culminating in a grand celebration on July 31, the city's official birthday. Among the notable events is the "Orlando Collected" exhibit at the Orange County Regional History Center opening in April. This exhibit will feature 150 items donated by locals, showcasing the city's history.

Another highlight is "The Changing Face of Orlando: A Sesquicentennial Celebration," a public art exhibition displaying historical photographs alongside modern images to show the city's transformation over 150 years.

The celebrations will conclude on July 31 with a city-wide service event and free access to attractions like Leu Gardens and the Mennello Museum. Residents, businesses, and organizations are encouraged to participate by hosting events or sharing stories and photos related to Orlando's history.
