The University of Central Florida women’s tennis team moved up to No. 19 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) rankings, according to an announcement on March 31. The rise follows a strong performance over the weekend against Houston.
The new ranking matches the Knights’ highest position this season and places them second in the Big 12 Conference with a conference record of seven wins and two losses. The improved standing reflects recent successes as UCF continues its spring campaign.
During their road match against No. 43 Houston, UCF took control early by sweeping the doubles point. Olivia Bergler and Lauren Seye secured a decisive 6-1 win on court two, while Jade Psonka and Vladislava Andreevskaya clinched another victory with a score of 6-2 on court three. Although Houston managed to tie the score at one apiece during singles play, wins from Bergler and Jantje Tilbuerger restored UCF’s lead.
Freshman Gatell sealed the overall team victory on court three by winning her match in three sets—6-3, 0-6, 6-2—marking her tenth dual-match win of the season and fifth time clinching a match for her team.
Looking ahead, UCF will host its final two home games of the regular season this coming weekend: Kansas State on Friday, April 3, followed by Oklahoma State on Sunday, April 5. The match against Oklahoma State is scheduled for noon with senior celebrations planned shortly before play begins.
