Adventist University of Health Sciences issued the following announcement.
AdventHealth University (AHU) is excited to welcome two new faculty members to our master of healthcare administration (MHA) program. Adrianna Davis, EdD, and Atalie Ashley-West, PhD, have both taught at AHU as adjunct faculty members since 2016 and we are blessed to have them join us full-time.
Dr. Adrianna Davis
Dr. Adrianna Davis is one of two new full-time faculty members in AHU's MHA program.
Dr. Davis earned her B.A. at the University of South Florida where she studied both psychology and public health. It was during this time that her interest in health care began. She later went on to pursue a M.S. in Leadership and an EdD in Organizational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University. She’s had the privilege of working for a variety of healthcare institutions, including CMS, HCA, Wipro, and AdventHealth. She’s held leadership roles related to organizational development and has made notable contributions to each institution.
Dr. Davis has developed various educational programs within healthcare institutions working closely with entry level leaders through executive leaders utilizing organizational development techniques and has presented on numerous topics related to turnover and retention in healthcare, training and development, and leading within a faith-based workplace.
Dr. Davis was born in Stuttgart, Germany, but here in the U.S., she loves to visit Memphis, Tennessee. When not teaching, she enjoys reading, leadership development, and shopping. She’s been married to her wonderful husband, Matthew, for 10 years and together they have three daughters, Isabella (Izzy), Penelope (Pea), and Gemma (Gem).
Dr. Atalie Ashley-West
Dr. Atalie Ashley-West is one of two new full-time faculty members in AHU's MHA program.
Dr. Ashley-West holds a PhD in Health Services Management and Research from the University of Central Florida. Additionally, she’s earned a Master of Public Health degree (MPH) and Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of South Florida. Her research centers on social determinants of health and health disparities, and her dissertation examined the statistical interactions between socioeconomic status, health insurance type and duration, and subjective quality of life.
Her research has been published in the Journal of Health Promotion and Practice and has been featured by the American Public Health Association, the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs, and the American Association for Cancer Research.
Prior to returning to academia, Dr. Ashley-West served in a variety of government, public health, and research administration roles including a senior research position for the National Committee for Quality Assurance in Washington, DC, social services administrator for the Orange County Government, assistant director for research at the Florida Center for Nursing, public health project manager for the Florida Hospital System (now AdventHealth), and a research consultant for the West Orange Healthcare District.
Dr. Ashley-West was born in Orlando to Jamaican parents and spent much of her childhood in the Caribbean. She and her husband, Philip, are avid travelers and, in the past 5 years, they have visited 12 countries on 4 continents.
