BARRY UNIVERSITY: Pietro Bonacossa named Associate Vice President for Development

Barry University issued the following announcement.

Barry University is pleased to announce Pietro Bonacossa will be joining the University as Associate Vice President for Development, effective March 30, 2020. In this role, Bonacossa will lead a team of gift officers driving revenue-generating strategies and engaging supporters to be part of Barry University’s mission.

Bonacossa comes to Barry from Nicklaus Children’s Hospital Foundation in Miami where he most recently served as Executive Director of Philanthropy. At the Foundation he led a diverse team responsible for fundraising and increasing mission awareness.

“Barry is a University with tremendous history, academic excellence and growth potential,” Bonacossa said.  “As a mission-driven ambassador in the nonprofit sector, I am thrilled to be part of the team generating funding to support the innovative work leadership is doing to further enhance educational opportunities, research and programs benefiting the overall community.

A native of Florence, Italy, Bonacossa previously worked in development at Miami Dade College and marketing and business development at Florida International University.

“With more than 15 years of fundraising experience in the South Florida nonprofit and higher education sectors, Pietro brings depth and breadth to Barry University. He will lead a team strategically focused on securing investments in student scholarship and Barry’s excellent academic programs,” said Bernadine Douglas, Vice President of Institutional Advancement.

Bonacossa is a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Trade from Auburn University and a Master of Business Administration in Marketing from Georgia State University.
