The City of Orlando’s Historic Preservation Board is inviting photographers to participate in the 2025 Historic Preservation Board Calendar and photography competition. This year, the board is seeking photographs that capture Orlando’s College Park Neighborhood.
In a bid to support historic preservation efforts, the city has been producing the popular Historic Preservation Board Calendar since 1991. The calendar serves as a depiction of Orlando’s treasured historic resources. Currently, the board is seeking photographs for the 2025 edition.
To qualify for the contest, photos should be of structures that are at least 50 years old and located in Historic College Park. In April of 1923, the Chamber of Commerce petitioned the City Commission to expand the city’s northern boundary to Par Street, thereby incorporating the developing area known as College Park into the city limits. Known for its architectural character, College Park boasts historical styles such as Colonial Revival, Craftsman, Mediterranean Revival, Minimal Traditional, Mission, Neoclassical Revival and Tudor Revival.
Submissions can feature individual details or an entire structure. Both exterior and interior images will be accepted. Submissions from areas of College Park not included in the Lake Adair/Lake Concord or Lake Ivanhoe National Register Districts are highly encouraged.
Each photographer whose picture is selected for the 2025 Historic Preservation Board Calendar will receive a $100 honorarium. The calendar is sponsored by McCoy Federal Credit Union.
Contest submissions must be submitted or postmarked by Monday, July 8, 2024 at 5 p.m. Photographers can submit up to three black and white photographs printed on either 8” x 10” or 8½” X 11” photo paper with a white border. Each photograph must be labeled on the back with: Photographer name; Daytime telephone number; E-mail address; Address of the subject site. Photos not labeled with a site address will be disqualified.
Photographs should be mailed to the Historic Preservation Office, 6th Floor, Orlando City Hall, P.O. Box 4990, 400 South Orange Avenue, Orlando, FL 32802.
