On Thursday, August 15, 2024, downtown Orlando will feature a unique art installation as part of DTOLive. The City of Orlando’s Downtown Development Board (DDB), in collaboration with United Arts of Central Florida and Creative City Project, will present an exhibit featuring 16-foot-tall colorful, inflatable pigeons. This installation aims to enhance urban vibrancy, support local businesses, and encourage community engagement. It also invites viewers to reconsider the resilience and adaptability of urban wildlife. The neon pigeons will be displayed through October 17, 2024.
Local artist Brendan O’Connor's vision brought "Big City Birds" to life as the second installment of Creative City Project’s collaboration with DTOLive. Launched by the DDB and United Arts of Central Florida, DTOLive is an arts initiative hosting over 800 events annually across 11 public spaces in downtown Orlando. This initiative seeks to enrich the city’s cultural landscape and provide arts experiences daily.
The DDB has funded United Arts of Central Florida for the development and execution of the DTOLive program. Running through June 2025, this initiative includes various performances and installations throughout the city. United Arts manages these events and ensures artist compensation for high-quality artistic experiences.
