On October 9, 2024, the City of Orlando initiated a Level 1 "full activation" of its Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in response to Hurricane Milton. This move ensures that all press inquiries and updates concerning the storm are directed through a centralized Press Desk at the EOC.

The city has emphasized that this desk will be staffed continuously during the activation period to assist media with information about the city's response and impacts related to Hurricane Milton. The contact details for the EOC Press Desk are as follows: phone number 321-235-5414 and email address OrlandoPIO@orlando.gov.

The city advises against contacting individual city press staff for storm-related inquiries during this period, as all Public Information Officers (PIOs) will be collaborating from the EOC. Consequently, emails or calls to specific city press contacts may not receive responses.

For additional updates, residents and media are encouraged to follow the City of Orlando's social media channels. Updates will be posted on their Facebook pages, both in English (facebook.com/cityoforlando) and Spanish (facebook.com/ciudaddeorlando), as well as on their X account (@citybeautiful) and Instagram page (instagram.com/thecitybeautiful). Further information can also be found on the city's website at orlando.gov/storm.
