Creative City Project and Red Tape Orlando have introduced "Urban Ember," a public art installation for DTOLive in downtown Orlando. This initiative, presented by the City of Orlando’s Downtown Development Board in collaboration with United Arts of Central Florida and the Downtown Arts District, aims to enhance the cultural atmosphere of the city.

"Urban Ember" is an outdoor seating sculpture designed by Red Tape Orlando. It features interlocking geometric shapes made from birch wood and includes plexiglass components with embedded LED lighting. The installation is intended to encourage exploration and interaction among residents and visitors by providing a welcoming space that highlights downtown Orlando's creative energy.

The DTOLive initiative, launched in April 2024, offers 850 free arts and culture experiences across downtown Orlando. It seeks to transform the area into a vibrant center for creativity through live music, interactive art, and street festival activities. This project is part of an ongoing collaboration between Creative City Project and DTOLive, following previous installations like “No Place Like Home” and “Big City Birds.”

The unveiling event will take place on Thursday, October 17, 2024, at 1:30 p.m. at 30 South Orange Avenue. Key figures involved include David Barilla from the City of Orlando’s Downtown Development Board/Community Redevelopment Agency, Jennifer Evins from United Arts of Central Florida, and Cole NeSmith from Creative City Project.

Metered parking for media attendees will be available on East Pine Street between South Orange Avenue and South Court Avenue.
