Hispanic Heritage Month in the City of Orlando

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and the Orlando City Council Proclaims September 15 through October 15 as Hispanic Heritage Month in the City of Orlando  

A Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration at the Amway Center will recognize and bring awareness to the month  

WHAT:  

Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and the Orlando City Council has proclaimed September 15 through October 15, 2021 as Hispanic Heritage Month in the City of Orlando.  

Hispanic Heritage Month is observed each year throughout the country to recognize the culture and traditions of U.S. residents who trace their roots to Spain, Mexico, and the Spanish speaking nations of Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. 

The theme of this year’s Hispanic Heritage Month is “Esperanza: a Celebration of Hispanic Heritage and Hope.” This theme invites residents to celebrate the community’s diversity and reflect on how great we can make the future through resilience and hope. 

This Hispanic Heritage Month reaffirms the Orlando’s commitment to being a welcoming and inclusive city that celebrates the differences of its citizens. The city of Orlando is proud to dedicate this month to the rich and diverse Hispanic culture and heritage within the community. 

As part of the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month and the important role art plays within the Hispanic culture, the City of Orlando will host a showcase of 19 local artists’ work. The art exhibition will run from August 30 – October 24, 2021 at the Terrace Gallery at Orlando City Hall.  

In addition to the Terrace Gallery Art Exhibition, Mayor Buddy Dyer and District 2 City Commissioner Tony Ortiz will host the City of Orlando’s Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration Event, October 12, 2021 at the Amway Center. This event will feature welcoming remarks from Mayor Dyer and Commissioner Ortiz, Latin food, music, and entertainment.
