Washington D.C. 

Mayor Dyer will join Orlando Police Chief Orlando Rolón and Orlando Police officers at Law Enforcement Memorial and Peace Officers Memorial Day events to honor Officer Kevin Valencia, as his name will be added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial. The events are part of National Police Week, which occurs every May to honor all the fallen officers across the country whose names have recently been added to the Memorial. 

 

Monday, May 16, 2022

10 a.m. - Workshop

City Council Chambers, City Hall, Second Floor    

Mayor Dyer and the Orlando City Council will receive an update from Visit Orlando on the recently announced “Unbelievably Real” branding campaign, upcoming projects and initiatives and a look to what’s ahead. The council will also get an overview by Kathy Ramsberger, President of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts that will include updates on fiscal information, impacts from the pandemic and the future ahead for the center.

4 p.m. - Plantees Grand Opening

1030 North Mills Avenue 

Mayor Dyer will join District 4 City Commissioner Patty Sheehan and Team Market Group for the grand opening of Plantees Burgers, a new local restaurant that serves 100% plant-based food including burgers, fries and milkshakes. This event highlights the new business in the Mills50 Main Street District.   

7 p.m. - Orlando Fringe Festival Ribbon Cutting

Loch Haven Park, 777 East Princeton Street 

Mayor Dyer will join Orlando Fringe to cut the ribbon and celebrate the opening for the 31st Orlando Fringe Festival. The Orlando International Fringe Theatre Festival is a 14-day immersive cultural experience, featuring 850 ticketed theatrical performances and a free outdoor music festival.

 

Wednesday, May 18, 2022  

9 a.m. - Legends Academy Expansion Groundbreaking

3099 Orange Center Boulevard 

Mayor Dyer will join District 6 Commissioner Bakari F. Burns and District 5 Commissioner Regina I. Hill to help Legends Academy celebrate the groundbreaking of its expanded facility. Legends Academy is a K-8 Science, Technology, Engineering and Math-focused school that serves 350 children in the Washington Shores neighborhood. The school's expansion includes the renovation of the former Frontline Outreach facility and will allow the school to expand enrollment to more than 550 children. 

2 p.m. - Greater Orlando Aviation Board Meeting  

Carl T. Langford Board Room, One Jeff Fuqua Boulevard  

Mayor Dyer will attend the Greater Orlando Aviation board meeting.
