New Experience Launches in Downtown Orlando with “Luminary Nights on the Green” at Creative Village

Inspired by the “Unbelievably Real” side of Orlando, this immersive experience allows viewers to enjoy the elements that make Orlando one of a kind

Orlando, Florida – The City of Orlando continues to increase the vibrancy of downtown Orlando with the launch of “Luminary Nights on the Green” at the city’s newest park, Luminary Green, in Creative Village. This 20-minute show turns the iconic ORLANDO sign into a canvas that comes alive with projected animations and lighting to music, all while showcasing the unique and authentic features of Orlando, like nature, innovation, thrills and hospitality. The show debuts this evening, Wednesday, May 10 at dusk and will run continuously every evening until 10 pm.

“I’m so excited to unveil Luminary Nights on the Green for our community and further grow the diverse experiences our downtown has to offer,” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer. “Having this one-of-a-kind feature, you won’t find anywhere else, takes these amenities to another level, further enhancing our downtown and providing another attraction for people to come check out in addition to creative village, our new park, nearby dining and all the other great offerings we have.”

During the light and sound show, viewers will catch glimpses of Orlando’s natural beauty, from wetlands to thunderstorms, as well as the many attractions that solidify Orlando's reputation as a world-class destination. Components of the show will be switched out for patriotic holidays and the December holiday season.

Additionally, the City of Orlando worked alongside Visit Orlando and the Orlando Economic Partnership to produce a one-minute segment known as “Awakening” that engages the community in culture projects that represent the regional brand Unbelievably Real. Awakening is an inspiring activation that defines what makes Orlando Unbelievably Real by taking the viewer on a colorful, visual journey.

“The unveiling of the new Orlando sign at Luminary Green marks an exciting milestone for the Orlando Unbelievably Real (OUR) Culture Project, a multiyear initiative that infuses art, creativity and technology to develop installations showcasing hometown pride,” said Casandra Matej, president and CEO, Visit Orlando. “Residents and visitors alike will enjoy this new nightly theatrical show that captures different elements of the Orlando experience and will ultimately add to destination’s collection of captivating murals and artwork.”

“The projection mapping on the Orlando sign at Luminary Green in Creative Village showcases the imagination and innovation of our vibrant region, while also demonstrating how we’re developing some of the world’s most innovative technologies,” said Tim Giuliani, president and CEO, Orlando Economic Partnership. “It’s a visual centerpiece for the city that highlights all the region has to offer, creating a unique experience for residents and visitors to enjoy. This is the latest activation of Orlando Unbelievably Real (OUR) Culture project, creating a new symbol for our area that allows everyone to share their love for Orlando.”

“Luminary Nights on the Green” is family-friendly, free and open to the public.
