UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL FLORIDA: COVID-19 and Halloween Safety

Announcemennttts

University of Central Florida issued the following announcement.

I am so proud of our students for your hard work and resilience, despite the feelings of stress and pandemic fatigue that I know are particularly present for you right now.

It is critical that we continue to Armor Up, especially during Halloween weekend.

We know that you want to unwind and celebrate, and we also want you to, but in a way that prioritizes the health and safety of yourself and others. Consider what a safer Halloween could look like:

  • Limit the number of people at your gathering
  • Bring your gathering outside
  • Require face masks that cover the nose and mouth
  • Practice physical distancing and hand-washing
  • Make sure attendees are not sick and have been following these practices
  • Leave if these practices are not being followed
  • If activities involve alcohol, have a plan to look out for one another and get home safely
The CDC is sharing additional guidelines for holiday celebrations that are important to keep in mind this weekend and with the approaching holiday season.

For those dressing up this weekend, please also be considerate when choosing your costume. What would your family members or a potential employer think about your costume, for example? Would anyone take offense to your costume, and is it respectful of others and their culture? Use common sense and good judgment.

UCF and Student Government are partnering on “Halloween Knight Inn,” an opportunity to be rewarded for compliance with the COVID-19 precautions in place to protect us all. Follow @ucf.edu and @ucf.sg on Instagram to learn more and participate. UCF Housing is sharing ways for residents to celebrate Halloween, and you can also visit Knight Connect to learn more about other events and activities taking place this weekend.

Remember that UCF is here for you, and there are many resources to support you and your success. We care so much about you and want you to be safe this Halloween and beyond.
