The City of Orlando, in partnership with Snap! Orlando, is set to unveil a new art exhibition titled "Earth’s Last Picture" by artist Dan L. Hess. The exhibit will be hosted at the City Hall Terrace Gallery and will run from November 8, 2024, through January 26, 2025.
Curated by Patrick Kahn and Dan L. Hess himself, the exhibition invites visitors to explore themes of transitions, life, and death through Hess's unique artistic perspective. The title of the exhibit draws inspiration from Rudyard Kipling's poem "When Earth’s Last Picture is Painted," which holds personal significance for Hess. His father gave him this poem four decades ago as a symbol of support for his career choice in the arts—a path not commonly pursued within his family.
Hess's work reflects on artistic and spiritual continuity and contemplates the space between endings and beginnings. This exhibition aligns with Orlando's ongoing efforts to promote local talent and support art organizations.
The opening event on November 8 includes media availability and a VIP reception starting at 5:30 p.m., followed by public viewing from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The venue is located at Terrace Gallery in Orlando City Hall on South Orange Avenue.
