The City of Orlando has announced a public hearing for the Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (AHAC), as mandated by Florida Statute 420.9076. The committee is tasked with completing a Housing Incentive Strategies Report, which aims to recommend actions to preserve affordable housing units and remove regulatory barriers that increase development costs.

The report's recommendations may include modifying or repealing existing policies, creating exceptions and incentives for affordable housing development, or adopting new regulations. The city must submit the report to local and state governing bodies and annually evaluate the implementation of each approved incentive. If the Orlando City Council approves any proposed incentives, relevant documents may need amendments.

The AHAC will review and discuss the report for a final vote on recommendations at a public hearing scheduled for Thursday, November 21, 2024, at 2:00 p.m., located at Orlando City Hall in the City Council Chambers.

City staff will seek approval of the AHAC's recommendations at the Orlando City Council Meeting on Monday, December 9, 2024. Interested parties are encouraged to attend both events.

The committee's recommendations can be reviewed online or by contacting Kassi Bernard, Housing and Community Development Program Manager, via phone or email. Special accommodations can be arranged through her contact information.
