Valencia Colllege issued the following announcement.
Three prominent leaders in the Central Florida community have joined the advisory council for the Peace and Justice Institute at Valencia College.
Real estate entrepreneur and career coach John Crossman, Tanya Easterling of Florida Blue, and Alex Hamrick of J.P. Morgan Private Bank have joined the 34-member PJI Advisory Council.
Established in 2008,the Peace and Justice Institute works with students, staff, faculty and the community in a leadership capacity to promote the organization’s vision of All People, All Voices, All Matter. PJI coordinates a variety of events and workshops that nurture a caring, inclusive andrespectful environment on the campus and throughout the community.
PJI has been credited by the United Nations as a pathway to a culture of peace and was listed in 2018 on the Orlando Sentinel’s list of “100 Things to Love About Orlando.”
“We are excited to have these three new members joining us. The advisory council serves the critical role of supporting our mission. As community ambassadors and advisors, they support us to make connected and meaningful decisions to advance our vision,” said Sumner Hutcheson III, council chair.
Crossman, a real estate entrepreneur, career coach and author, is a former trustee of Valencia College, having been appointed by Gov. Rick Scott in 2014. For more than 20 years, he has provided educational and career opportunities for diverse students and young professionals.
Easterling, marketing leader for Florida Blue in Central Florida, currently serves as vice chair for both the Seminole County Public Schools Foundation and the Orlando Repertory Theatre. She also serves on the board of Leadership Seminole. Prior to her work with Florida Blue, she was the area marketing director for Chick-fil-A.
Hamrick is a lawyer and financial planner at J.P. Morgan Private Bank. Prior to joining J.P.Morgan, Hamrick practiced law in Central Florida as an estate planning and tax and transactional attorney.
