With nearly three decades of fire service experience, Charlie Salazar is well qualified to lead the Orlando Fire Department. He currently serves as Executive Deputy Chief with Dallas Fire-Rescue and I am proud to appoint him as OFD’s next Chief.
I believe that with his experience, strong leadership and organizational skills, Chief Salazar is the right person to ensure that OFD will continue to work diligently in protecting our community.
Pending approval from City Council, he is expected to start his new role in late July. I look forward to working with Chief Salazar and OFD’s personnel and staff to ensure that the department continues achieving its mission to protect residents, visitors and property.
