Monday, September 26, 2022 

10 a.m. - City Council Workshop - Downtown Action Plan Update

City Council Chambers, City Hall, 2nd Floor 

Mayor Dyer and the Orlando City Council will hear a workshop presented by the City of Orlando’s Downtown Development Board/Community Redevelopment Agency and project consultants that will provide an update on their current work on the Downtown Action Plan. With implementable strategies and concepts, the plan’s focus is on what driving actionable changes to streets, civic spaces, mobility options and neighborhoods can best catalyze and ensure Downtown Orlando is a vibrant, economically-viable and thriving city for everyone, now and into the future.

5:01 p.m. - Budget Hearing #2

City Council Chambers, City Hall, Second Floor 

Mayor Dyer and Orlando City Council will hold the second and final public Budget Hearing to adopt the millage rate for Fiscal Year 2022/2023 and set the budget and Capital Improvement Program.

9:30 a.m. - Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando Cat Shelter Ribbon Cutting

777 West Central Boulevard, Unit A 

Mayor Dyer will join District 4 City Commissioner Patty Sheehan and the Pet Alliance of Greater Orlando for the opening of their new downtown cat shelter. The new location in Downtown Orlando will also as the Orlando hub for Pet Alliance’s volunteer foster program and expand their Community Cat TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) initiative in the surrounding neighborhoods. 

11:30 a.m. - 4th Annual Celebrating Women in Sports

Addition Financial Arena, 12777 Gemini Boulevard North 

Mayor Dyer will join the Greater Orlando Sports Commission for the 4th annual Celebrating Women in Sports event presented by Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute. The event will honor five local award winners who have helped make sports in Central Florida successful through donating their time, energy and passion to improving the industry and taking it in new directions.

10:30 a.m. - World Heart Day CPR Training

Boone High School Gymnasium, 1000 East Kaley Street

Mayor Dyer and Orlando Fire Chief Charlie Salazar will join Orange County Public Schools for a community-wide Hands-Only CPR training at Boone High School. The training is part of World Heart Day, where Orlando firefighters will be at every high school to train more than 6,400 students these life-saving skills. This initiative supports the city’s Take Heart Orlando program, emphasizing Orlando’s vision to be a community in which everyone has the knowledge to recognize and treat sudden cardiac arrest. 

4:30 p.m. - The Closing City Ribbon Cutting

4725 West Sand Lake Road 

Mayor Dyer will give cut the ribbon to officially open The Closing City, a minority-owned business. Small businesses like The Closing City, which focuses on real estate, help create job opportunities for Orlando residents. 

5 p.m. - City of Orlando 16th Annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration

Camping World Stadium – West Plaza Lounge, 1 Citrus Bowl Place 

Mayor Dyer will join District 2 City Commissioner Tony Ortiz for the 16th annual Hispanic Heritage Month celebration at Camping World Stadium to recognize the contributions made by the diverse and rich Hispanic and Latin cultures both locally and across the nation. This event builds on the city’s efforts to ensure Orlando is a diverse, inclusive and welcoming community.

 

Friday, September 30, 2022

10:30 a.m. - Orlando Fire Station 11 Construction Kick-off

4911 Curry Ford Road 

Mayor Dyer will join District 2 City Commissioner Tony Ortiz and Orlando Fire Chief Charlie Salazar at Fire Station 11 to kick off the construction for the new state-of-the-art replacement station. At the event, Mayor Dyer will help demolish a portion of the current Fire Station 11 building. The new station will provide the Dover Shores neighborhood with a modern facility, equipped with the latest in technology and space to accommodate multiple, specialized units and equipment to serve the residents and businesses in the area.  

7 p.m. - Creative City Project - Airplay  

Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, Seneff Arts Plaza, 445 South Magnolia Avenue 

Mayor Dyer will join Creative City Project for their newest installation “Airplay” presented by Orlando Health from October 1-30, 2022. Airplay offers a downtown experience art like never before and features “Architects of Air” – a giant, immersive and inflatable architectural walk-thru experience of color, light and shape.
