Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and the Orlando City Council Proclaim September 15 through October 15 as Hispanic Heritage Month in the City of Orlando   

Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations recognize achievements of the Hispanic community in Orlando

WHAT: 
Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and the Orlando City Council will proclaim September 15 through October 15, 2023, as Hispanic Heritage Month in the City of Orlando.  

Hispanic Heritage Month is observed each year throughout the country to recognize the culture and traditions of U.S. residents who trace their roots to Spain, Mexico and the Spanish speaking nations of Central America, South America and the Caribbean.

Recognizing Hispanic Heritage Month reaffirms Orlando’s commitment to being a welcoming and inclusive city that embraces the differences of its residents. The city of Orlando is proud to dedicate this month and host events to celebrate the rich and diverse Hispanic culture and heritage within the community.

Mayor Dyer will join District 2 City Commissioner Tony Ortiz to host the City of Orlando’s annual Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration. At the event, the community can enjoy traditional Hispanic dishes, Latin music and entertainment.

Hispanic Heritage Month Art Exhibition

Terrace Gallery at Orlando City Hall, 400 South Orange Avenue 

As part of the celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the city will feature domino-inspired art pieces that showcase the sport, which has historically been an important part of Latin American culture and is often associated with shared traditions and values such as family, community and friendship.

3 p.m. - 2023 Prospera Success Stories: Synergy for Progress

Orlando Museum of Art, 2416 North Mills Avenue

Mayor Dyer will join Orange County Mayor Jerry L. Demings, Prospera’s leadership team and business owners to recognize Prospera partners and celebrate their contributions to the Central Florida community. Located within Orlando’s National Entrepreneur Center, Prospera is a local nonprofit that provides bilingual assistance to Hispanic entrepreneurs. This event furthers the city’s goals to support small businesses and stimulate economic development.
